Brooklyn, MI, — Mark Martin ran out of fuel in turn four of the last lap Sunday at Kentucky Speedway and cruised to his third victory this season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400 stock car race.
Martin, the oldest regular driver in the Sprint Cup at age 50, conserved just enough fuel in his Purolator filter-equipped Chevrolet Impala to win by just over two seconds ahead of his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon. The win moved Martin into the eighth position in Sprint Cup Series points as Gordon, the four time series champion, remains in the second position.
