Concord, NC — Making perhaps his most strongest comeback of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Jimmie Johnson came back from 37th to finish third Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway and expand his points lead at the midway point in the season-ending, 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup Crown. Driving his familiar Purolator-equipped #48 Lowe's Chevrolet Impala for Hendrick Motorsports, Johnson actually had the lead on lap 189 after a turn 2 spin 34 laps into the 334 lap event. Denny Hamlin, the driver of the #11 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, followed Johnson to the checkered flag for fourth place at CMS and continues to hold the runner-up position in Chase points just 41 markers back. The series moves to Martinsville Speedway in Virginia this weekend where Johnson or Hamlin have won the last eight races at this oval track.
