Jimmie Johnson Further Expands His Chase Points Lead on Purolator

Talladega, AL - Following Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway, Jimmie Johnson now has a commanding points lead in the Chase for the Cup championship showdown driving his Purolator-equipped Lowe's Chevrolet Impala SS. In the 500-mile AMP Energy 500 race Sunday, Johnson came back from 24th position to finish sixth in the final 10 laps and expanded his points lead to 184 over his second-place Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin. With three races left on the '09 schedule, Johnson can finish next Sunday's race at Texas Motor Speedway out of the points and lead in the Chase.
