Hampton, GA — Jeff Gordon won his 85th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Tuesday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the rain-delayed AdvoCare 500 race driving his familiar Purolator-equipped #24 Chevrolet Impala. As the third most winning driver in NASCAR history, Gordon battled his Hendrick Motorsports teammate and five-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson to a one-two finish, both sliding to the final result. Ironically, Gordon's 85th career win was posted at the same track in Atlanta where he started in Cup racing in 1992. Johnson took over the Cup points lead with his runner-up finish.
