Jeff Gordon Ends Winless Drought at Phoenix Driving Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet on Purolator

Veteran Bosch stock car driver Jeff Gordon won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway snapping a 66-race winless string and scoring his 83rd career Cup victory. Driving his familiar Purolator-equipped #24 Chevrolet Impala for Hendrick Motorsports, Gordon passed Kyle Busch for his final lead with eight laps remaining and won on the PIR one-mile oval track. Busch, who drives a Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing, finished second and took over the Sprint Cup points lead after two races. Five-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson took third at PIR in his Purolator-equipped Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
